Pakistan Set to Resume Direct Flights to the US After UK Clearance

Pakistan’s aviation sector is preparing for a major comeback as the government moves forward with plans to resume direct flights to the United States, following the recent clearance to operate routes to the United Kingdom.

Speaking at a press conference, Aviation Minister Khawaja Asif confirmed that both Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) and several private carriers have received permission to restart flights to Britain — a development he described as a “significant breakthrough” for the country’s aviation industry.

“The approval for both national and private airlines to fly to the UK is an important milestone. It shows confidence in our improved safety and operational standards,” Asif stated.

According to the minister, the first direct flight from Islamabad to Manchester is scheduled for October 25, 2025.

Private Airlines Show Strong Interest

Khawaja Asif also revealed that multiple private airlines are planning to launch services to the United Kingdom. This expansion will not only enhance Pakistan’s global connectivity but also increase competition, offering travelers more options and better fares.

The development marks an important step forward for Pakistan’s aviation sector, which has been working to restore international confidence after years of restrictions and audits.

Direct Flights to the US on the Horizon

During his briefing, the aviation minister shared that discussions with American aviation authorities are progressing positively.

“We’re optimistic that direct flights to the United States will resume soon. Our efforts to meet international aviation standards and strengthen safety measures have been recognized,” Asif said.

Once approval is granted, Pakistan will once again operate non-stop flights to key US cities, making travel for overseas Pakistanis and business professionals more convenient and efficient.

Strengthening Pakistan’s Aviation Image

The resumption of UK and US routes reflects Pakistan’s commitment to modernizing its aviation system, upgrading airports, and improving global standards.
Experts believe this could attract new foreign airlines, boost tourism, and increase trade opportunities in 2025 and beyond.

Key Highlights:

  • Pakistan cleared to operate direct flights to the UK.
  • Islamabad–Manchester flight scheduled for October 25, 2025.
  • Positive talks underway for direct US flights.
  • Private airlines also entering the UK route.
  • Boost expected in tourism, business, and overseas travel.

Final Thoughts

The announcement marks a turning point for Pakistan’s aviation industry. After years of challenges, the country is steadily regaining its position on the global travel map.

If permissions for the US routes are finalized soon, Pakistani travelers can look forward to direct, faster, and safer journeys to North America in the near future.
